Introduction

Overview

This guide demonstrates how to replace a network interface card in an Open Compute V3 (storage) server node. == Acronyms and Terms == * Mini-SAS - Mini Serial Attached SCSI * SCSI - Small Computer System Interface

  1. Grab the (2) thumbscrews, as shown. Unscrew the (2) thumbscrews until the cage releases.
    • Grab the (2) thumbscrews, as shown.

    • Unscrew the (2) thumbscrews until the cage releases.

    • You may need to use a #1 screwdriver if the screws are too tight.

  2. Grab the riser cage, as shown. Lift the cage. Lift the cage.

  3. Grab the power and SATA cables. Disconnect each cable. Disconnect each cable.

    • Disconnect each cable.

  4. Pinch the NIC retention tabs, as shown. NIC retention tabs are fragile. Normally (4) retention tabs exist. If the server has been previously serviced, there may be fewer than (4) tabs.

  5. Lift the NIC up and away from the front of the server. Lift the NIC up and away from the front of the server.

  6. Install a new network interface card.
    • Install a new network interface card.

    • The network interface card installation procedure is opposite of the removal procedure.
