Overview

This guide demonstrates how to replace a QSFP cable in a Wedge switch system. == Acronyms and Terms == * CSW - Cluster Switch * OOB - Out-Of-Band * QSFP - Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable; a hot-pluggable data communications transceiver. ** Hot-pluggable - A term used to describe the replacement of a component without the need to power off a system.

    • Port configurations are delineated in both the physical and logical domains. They are labeled as physical/logical, where applicable.

    • Wedge Ports 1-10: Used for Open Compute server connectivity.

    • Wedge Port 11: Out-Of-Band connectivity.

    • Wedge Port 12: Not used.

    • Wedge Ports 13 - 16: Uplink Connectivity

  2. Disconnect the desired QSPF cable from the Wedge switch by pulling the pull-tab, as shown.
    • Disconnect the desired QSPF cable from the Wedge switch by pulling the pull-tab, as shown.

    • Disconnect the four QSFP cables connected to the Open Compute servers within the rack.

    • Untether the QSFP breakout cable from the Open Rack cable management ties.

    • Replace the QSFP cable.

    • The QSFP cable replacement process is opposite of the removal process.
