Introduction

Overview

This guide demonstrates how to replace a boot hard disk drive in an Open Compute V3 (Storage) server node.

  1. Disconnect the HDD SATA / Power cable, as shown. Make sure to engage the locking mechanisms on the cable. Make sure to engage the locking mechanisms on the cable.
    • Disconnect the HDD SATA / Power cable, as shown.

    • Make sure to engage the locking mechanisms on the cable.

  2. Push the HDD retention tab towards the right of the server node, as shown. Push the HDD retention tab towards the right of the server node, as shown.
    • Push the HDD retention tab towards the right of the server node, as shown.

  3. With the retention tab pushed outward, push the HDD towards front of the server. Remove the HDD from the server.
    • With the retention tab pushed outward, push the HDD towards front of the server.

    • Remove the HDD from the server.

  4. Insert a new HDD into the drive cage.
    • Insert a new HDD into the drive cage.

    • You do not need to actuate the HDD retention lever when inserting a new HDD.

    • Connect the SATA / Power cable to the new HDD.
